A Conversation about the Creative Sector, Community Development, and Impact Investing

New York City’s museums, libraries, and other nonprofit cultural organizations steward endowments of more than $15 billion in aggregate. As part of COVID-19 economic recovery planning, this conversation organized by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and Upstart Co-Lab will assemble leaders from endowed cultural institutions for a practical orientation to impact investing aligned with institutional mission and values.

The discussion will highlight the importance of New York City’s creative economy; describe culture as a driver of community well-being; describe how endowed institutions can amplify their mission and values through impact investing; and present actionable investment opportunities supporting New York City’s communities.

Foundations and other peer investors will share their experience; experts will detail the what, why, and how of sustainable and impact investing including common questions regarding comparative financial performance. Actionable investment opportunities focused on NYC's women entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs of color, and low-income communities through community development finance institutions will be highlighted.

Attendance for the live program is by invitation only. The event will be recorded and will be available on the Federal Reserve Bank of New York website at a later date. If you would like to nominate leaders and trustees of endowed cultural institutions in New York City who should be invited to attend the event, please contact Sarah Lang ([email protected] / 402-990-4786).
