Direct Investing by Philanthropic Investors: How to Responsibly Invest and Exit?

Philanthropic asset owners are increasingly engaging in direct investing instead of using intermediaries such as a community development financial institution or venture fund. Even so, direct investing is still often avoided due to the difficulties of sourcing, diligence, monitoring, and responsibly exiting from a for-profit or nonprofit corporation.

Mission Investors Exchange (MIE) is pleased to present, “Direct Investing by Philanthropic Investors: How to Responsibly Invest and Exit?” This Virtual Learning Opportunity (VLO) held Feb. 8, 2024, explored the intricacies of direct investing and responsible exits in impact investing. Experts shared their insights regarding deal sourcing, mission considerations, investment underwriting, legacy preservation, and ethical transitions.
