Leading Together Conference 2019

Leading Together is a gathering organized by Council on Foundations of leaders in philanthropy and other influencers in business, government, and academia eager to connect, learn, and share with one another. 
 
Leading Together 2019 will offer three days of best practices, training, and big ideas. With almost 50 concurrent sessions, learning labs, breakfast roundtables, and more led by seasoned experts, there are sessions for everyone. Conference programming will focus on four tracks: bridging divides, climate change and vulnerabilities, philanthropic practice, and inclusive economic prosperity.

Salon: Impact Investing Trends in Place

Is your foundation working solo? Or are you part of a team working together to change the place that you care about? Successful leaders recognize that by expanding their networks to build bridges across sectors, they can more easily identify and collate the many types of capitals needed to get to community solutions. This lively salon-style conversation will focus on community capital stacks and bring to light unique solutions such as collaborative impact investing in place for affordable housing, ensuring diverse workforces benefit from opportunity zones legislation, and educating for new careers in a rapidly changing landscape.

Announcing HUD-COF Excellence in Partnership Awardees!

MIE members California Community Foundation* and The Cleveland Foundation are among winners of this year's HUD-COF Excellence in Partnership Award, which honors cross-sector partnerships between the philanthropic and public sectors. Our wholehearted congratulations on behalf of the MIE community to these foundations, and their project partners Conrad N. Hilton Foundation,* Kresge Foundation,* Weingart Foundation, McKnight Foundation,* and Otto Bremer Trust.

 

Foundations Accelerating Impact Through the Use of Guarantees

Tuesday, 10:15-11:30 AM
Organized by the Kresge Foundation*
 
Led by the Kresge Foundation, seven foundations — of varying sizes — are collaborating to launch the Community Investment Guarantee Facility (CIGF), which will make guarantees in the housing, small business and climate sectors.  This session will provide an overview of the kinds of impact guarantees can have and how the CIGF can help foundations adopt the use of this tool.
