Virtual Learning Opportunity: Building Georgia's Impact Investment Ecosystem: A Case Study

In the fall of 2016, a group of Georgia-based philanthropic, investment, and nonprofit leaders came together over a shared concern that the practice of impact investing was not developing in Georgia at the same pace seen elsewhere around the country. After several months of research, the group made the decision to launch the Georgia Social Impact Collaborative (“GSIC”) as a sustained, collective effort to catalyze impact investing across the state. GSIC went on to identify initial priorities designed to educate potential investors and investees, foster connections in the developing ecosystem, and advance concepts necessary for impact investing to become a more prominent tool. Among other activities, GSIC developed a network “map” to help connect and educate investors, investees and support providers.

In this Virtual Learning Opportunity, speakers will share key learnings from Georgia’s case study and help understand some of the dynamics, early successes and challenges in developing an emerging ecosystem. Attendees will gain perspective on how one region is reducing the gap between interest and action when it comes to impact investing.
