Impact Investing for Sustaining Fisheries

A recent article from SeafoodSource.com reports that while some dedicated sustainable fishery funds have been formed over the last few years, including althelia ecosphere’s Sustainable Ocean Fund (SOF) in London, Encourage Capital’s Pescador Holdings, and Rare’s Meloy Fund, positive financial returns remain rare.
 
Chris Loew, a contributing editor for SeafoodSource.com reporting from Osaka, Japan explains that “the difficulty is that few projects have reached a stage where sufficient likelihood profitability can be assured.” Further, Loew goes on to describe several factors that also contribute to the lackluster financial results experienced thus far.
