New Impact Investing Marketplace

A new online impact investing marketplace called ImpactUs looks to make it easier for impact investors to identify social enterprises in which to invest.

The platform will give investors a place where they can learn more about, and connect with funds, operating companies, and projects. The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and Ford Foundation, among others, are the platforms' funders.

Currently, ImpactUs is only open to accredited, invited investors. But there are plans to make it available to others, including individuals, in the near future.

The platform started with four listings, but 35 more are in process. Investment opportunities range from the $3 million to $100 million range and are in the areas of the environment, clear water, education, healthy food and health care, using a mix of three models: mission-first, financial bottom line first, or a blend of the two.

Their goal is to have up to $150 million in assets under administration by the end of the year and $3 billion in 10 years, with over 350 investment deals.
