Prudential Financial, Impact’s Quiet Giant: A Podcast With Lata Reddy

With a portfolio of more than $715 million, Prudential Financial may be the biggest impact investor you’ve never heard of. Indeed, the insurance company is on track to meet its commitment of $1 billion in impact investments by 2020. Some of these assets overlap with the company’s $1 billion commitment to Newark, New Jersey, where it has been headquartered since 1875. That makes it one of the country’s largest place-based investors as well.

In this podcast, David Bank, Chief Editor of Impact Alpha, sat down with Lata at the Mission Investors Exchange 2018 National Conference in Chicago to talk race, place, and impact investing. “We are constantly looking for the innovations, for the gaps,” Prudential’s Lata Reddy says. “We know that capital markets aren’t perfect. We try to look for inefficiencies, and where we can come up with products and services that speak to those inefficiencies.”
