Rise of Green Bonds for Climate Impact Investing

Green bond funds are growing in popularity among investors seeking a more direct environmental impact from their money. Green bonds finance environmental projects like wind and solar power, mass transit and upgrades in energy efficiency. There is no industry standard definition for what qualifies as a green bond, which may be issued by municipalities, companies and other entities. Still, this article looks at the market increase in the green bond issues: $150 billion in 2017, about double from the year before.
