In the June 5th episode of Impact Briefing, Donray Von of Castleberry notes, "death became the equalizer ... it made everyone vulnerable," discussing how the intersection between the COVID-19 pandemic and the extrajudicial killings of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd has resulted in a renewed uprising for racial justice in the United States. The Juneteenth episode of Impact Briefing features Jasmine Rashid of Candide Group, who discusses her recently published toolkit, The Financial Activist Playbook for Supporting Black Lives, a guide for individuals to use the power of their spending to support racial justice. Jasmine is followed by a profile of Aurora James, the founder of Brother Vellies and the creator of the 15 Percent Pledge, which calls on large corporations and institutions to support black-owned businesses.
