An Impact Analysis: Omidyar Network's First 10 Years

The Omidyar Network has published an impact analysis covering its first decade of work spanning 2004-2014, representing investments into 380 organizations and the deployment of $750 million across more than seven sectors and 40 countries. The bulk of the Omidyar Network investments during that period were in early-stage organizations, split roughly 50-50 between for-profit and nonprofit organizations.

 

The report assesses the organization's direct impact, reaching beyond pure numbers of individuals reached to also characterize the depth of the impact among investees; aas well as sector impact, which includes spurring the market and policy changes. The impact report also profiles a set of Impact Stars, that select group of investees who demonstrated superior impact, both direct and on their sectors.

 

All in all the Omidyar Network reports its investments reached 150 million people globally, finding an inverse relationship between the number of individuals reached and the depth of impact per person. See below for a link to the full report.
