Natural Resources Conservation Service & Investment Capital

 

Each year, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) of the US Department of Agriculture works with farmers, ranchers and forest landowners across the United States to achieve conservation across millions upon millions of acres of land.

 

In 2016, NRCS commissioned Encourage Capital to explore how the organization might better use Farm Bill conservation funding to leverage private capital. NRCS and Investment Capital: Investing in America Together is the culmination of many months of interviews, discussions, and analyses that involved NRCS staff as well as external partners and stakeholders. The report explores the myriad ways that the NRCS might engage with private investment capital in order to achieve more conservation on the ground per government dollar spent.
