Why Good Capital
SOCAP convened its Good Capital Project in June, a kick off to a two-year collaborative project looking to drive more capital to mission-related investments. Each month SOCAP is interviewing an expert in the field. This month they spoke with Debra Schwartz, managing director of impact investments at MIE member MacArthur Foundation.
Debra discussed why collaboration is critical to advance the impact investing field. She shared what she considers to be the three biggest challenges to greater adoption (lack of awareness, not enough on ramps an ensuring deep impact), as well as the biggest opportunities (rising interest in the practice, innovation and greater participation from foundations). Regarding what she would like to see come out of the Good Capital Project she said, “My hope would be that the Good Capital Project can find new areas where convening, collaboration, and co-design can be valuable.”
